Veiled Attempt

So, I need a veil. Or think I should wear one.

Okay ... I want a veil, even though I can't wear a circle. Yet.

I have silk but am using cotton voile instead for this first attempt.
I think a bias cut will hang nicely and be easier to hem.
I don't want a rectangle, square, half or full circle.
I want an egg-shaped oval.

Found an excellent page about ovals and egg curves.
 Egg Curves & Ovals

MathBoy was called upon to help and with little gnashing of teeth he worked it out for me. Not as egg-shaped as the image above, but I actually want it less pointy.  So far I'm happy.

I carefully pinned the pattern in place, then outlined it with my Pilot Frixion Ball pen. Then I turned over the whole thing (to more easily stitch) and based the outline with fine hand sewing thread.

I know this fabric will fray terribly, so I did't want to cut it yet. I measured and marked a 3/8" hem allowance, and I was ready to begin a hand-stitched rolled hem.

I'm only cutting away a few inches of the excess fabric at a time, so the whole yard is in my lap.
This will be time consuming.

But I think it will be well worth it!
